The Album Drop

Where To Find New Music – Vol. 1

Welcome to a new series on my blog. I’m hoping to help you – the music buying public – to better enjoy the internet and the ions of free music it contains. Today we feature the “First Listen” page on NPR.

National Public Radio is a not-for-profit conglomerate with nearly 800 stations in the US. Known for their news and current affairs programming, their stations are also a forum for music that doesn’t necessarily get mainstream attention. The first listen page highlights new releases and streams them for free approximately a week before their release date. They also thoroughly review the albums they feature, so you’ll know if it’s worth your time. Many of these releases are the buzz-worth ones being covered by Rolling Stone, Spin & The Album Drop Podcast and is definitely worth a look.
