Song Of The Day #31

Kings Of Lowertown – South Mountain

Crank it up, cause it’s lo-fi. Coming out of the Ottawa Valley, this group (fronted by singer/songwriter Mike Mackey) has a knack for recording to tape. More specifically, a Portastudio 4 pocket recording machine. It works to capture the rich spirit of the music, and creating a natural vibe, which is hard to replicate with digital recording. The music is of a wide ranging influence Punk, Rock & Roll, Folk and more are words that would come close to describing it. They’ve even worked with Mike Watt (Minutemen, J Mascis, Stooges). More is available from their SoundCloud Page.
