The Who are coming back to Ottawa. The Rock & Roll legends have announced a Quadrophenia tour this fall, performing their 1973 rock opera in its entirety. Rolling Stone has the details. They also have a cheeky quote from Pete Townshend regarding the size and flavour of Mick Jagger’s Penis. The group has also announced that they will honour tickets from a cancelled 1979 show in Rhode Island.

Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe finally spoke to the media, regarding his 4th degree murder charge in the Czech Republic here. He maintains his innocence, and is still being held, in spite of posting bail.

Southern Ontario Punk Rockers The Creepshow have announced on their Facebook Page that they have parted ways with singer Sarah “Sin” Blackwood. Her work as a solo artist, along with the viral video sensation Walk Of The Earth are listed as the contributing factors for the separation. The group has a new singer, and is already working on a new record and a fall tour.

Propagandhi have made a few announcements, including that of a new single, and album. ‘Failed States’ (the LP) comes out in September. A fan died at the Toronto stop of The Vans Warped Tour last week. It was extremely hot, and it’s reported that the 19 year old victim had a Pre-Existing Breathing Condition

NME is reporting that sales of back catalogue albums have surpassed sales of new records. It was inevitable, given the price of older albums online, and in stores.

If you are at a concert, and are unimpressed by the openers, don’t put it on Twitter. You could be singled out by the headliner, and kicked out like this guy was.

Upcoming Releases

Arcade Fire have announced a New Record Next Year.

NOFX have announced a new record, ‘Self-Entitled’ will be out in September on Fat Wreck Chords. A 7″, “Ronnie & Mags” will precede the release, hitting shelves August 14th.

Death Cab For Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard has announced a solo album under his own name. ‘Former Lives’ will be out October 16th. He speaks to Stereogum about it here.

In a recent interview, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo says the group is preparing archival footage and tapes for re-release. He also tells that he is Unsure of the bands future.

New Music

Flea has finally dropped his solo record. ‘Helen Burns’ is the Red Hot Chili Peppers Bassist’s first solo work, and it’s pretty weird. Get the full description, plus get the album for the cost of “Pay-What-You-Want” from his Silverlake Conservatory. It’s cool. Plus Patty Smith sings on a tune too.

Shad has released a new mixtape. ‘Melancholy And The Infinite Shadness’ does not feature a Smahing Pumpkins sample, but it does feature samples from Lenny Kravitz, PM Dawn, Milli Vanilli and more. Get it for free From His Bandcamp.

Nicholas Krgovich from Vancouver’s No Kids has released a solo record. The 9 song collection is better detailed at Exclaim, and features covers of Neil Young, K.D. Lang, Janet Jackson and Frank Ocean (streaming below)

The good people at PunkNews have some footage of Refused covering Bad Brains and Cro-Mags in Brooklyn. We’ve also got the clips from their appearance on Jimmy Fallon.

Snoop Dogg is set to release a Reggae album. “Snoop Lion’s ‘Reincarnated'” does not have a set release date yet, but in the meantime, enjoy “La La La” below.
