Weekend Music Meltdown – August 27, 2011

Jon Stewart is set to host a ’round-table,’ ‘town hall’ type discussion on Sirius XM to celebrate 20 years of Nevermind. The 2 Hour Program will include Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic & Producer Butch Vig as panelists, and will see the three taking questions from a live studio audience, as well as from the internet. The show will air September 24th at 8pm EST on Sirius XM Channel 34 (“Lithium” – a new channel set up to celebrate the anniversary of the album, airing for 5 days, playing only Nirvana)

Liam Gallagher has dropped his lawsuit against his brother Noel. The Beady Eye frontman was suing his kin for Libel, following comments made about the break-up of their old band (Oasis). Noel has since apologised. The Sun has more here

Tokyo Police Club have launched an ambitious new project. “10 Songs, 10 Days, 10 Hours, 10 Years” has the Toronto based band covering a new song every day. The band takes 10 hours to rehearse and record a song, and pick a new song from the first decade of this century each day. Despite being sponsored by Polaroid (Their still around??) it’s a cool idea. Martin Scorsese has directed a movie about the life of George Harrison. ‘Living In The Material World’ will debut October 5th & 6th on HBO, and will be out on DVD/BlueRay October 10th. You wanna see the trailer:
